~Tips For Parents~*

Listed below are some of the articles that I've read regarding the children and felt that it's necessary to share with you parents.I also try to make it more simple and shorter from the original one's to make it easy for all of us to understand.Hopefully all this info will help us to understand our children better.

TIPS FOR PARENTS OF CHILDREN STARTING PRE-SCHOOL

1- Visit the preschool to became familiar with the setting.
The more familiar your child is with the pre school staff and environment, the easier it will be for your child to settle into the preschool
2- Be well informed
Parents need to be prepared for preschool too.Talk to the principal and the pre school teacher to find out as much information as you can about attending preschool. The first day of preschool can be an anxious experience for both of you and your child. Preparing your child for preschool by answering all their questions honestly and as much details as they can understand can curb potential anxieties.
3- Find out what your child will need to bring to preschool
Talk to your principal or preschool teacher to find out the kindergarten requirements. Lunch boxes, drink containers and other necessary personal items.
4- Encourage independence
Children who are able to care for themselves and their belongings will feel more confident at preschool.Parents can encourage children to practise personal hygiene, such as wiping their nose and toileting independently.Children who assist in packing their bag at home each morning will readily identify their own belongings during the day.
5-Label equipment and clothing
Children's belonging may look very similar to their classmate.Labeling your child's belonging and clothing with heir name will help prevent loss, confusion and possible upset for your child.
6-Pack a change of clothes
Accidents do happen.there maybe a toilet mishap, wet sleeves from hand washing or mess from craft or outdoor experiences. When accident occur children prefer to change into their own clothes.Pack a spare set of clothes in your child's bag.
7-share information with the preschool teacher
Children learn best when parents and teachers share together in a partnership. The teachers have many students to get to know.Because you know your child best, you can help the teacher understand your child by sharing information, concern and insights.
8-Keep the preschool teacher informed of the changes
Changes to your child's family situation can impact on their emotional and academic well being. If you keep your child's teacher informed at any changed circumstances the child can be supported if necessary.Examples of changes include the birth of sibling ,moving house, divorce or separation or the death or hospitalisation of a loved one.Its also important to notify the school of changes to contact details, such as address and emergency telephone no.
9-Participate in the preschool activities
Parents are welcome to participate in pre school by attending special activities and by volunteering to help in the classroom. This may assist to reassure your child that you are interested in them and their preschool.
10-Provide information about your child's health record
Your child will be coming into contact with other children and infections can spread quickly.Provide the kindergarten with the necessary information about your child health record.

GETTING A PICKY EATER TO EAT

* At every meal put one healthy food on the plate that you know he will eat and one new food.Tell your kids that he does not have to eat it but the new food stays on the plate.Don't make a fuss if he doesn't touch it.
* Take all junk food out of the house or keep it in an area where he cannot see
* Be creative with food,eg:use cookies cutter to make things like sandwiches interesting shapes.
* Make milkshakes using real fruits
* Offer only healthy food choices on a regular meal time.
* Get your child involved in grocery shopping and meal preparation to keep them constantly interested in food.

START THE DAY RIGHT - EAT BREAKFAST

Kids And Breakfast
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.Every one should eat breakfast to keep the body fueled up.It's especially important that kids eat breakfast. If kids skip breakfast it can harm their growth and developing nutritional deficiencies such as calcium and protein deficiencies.Children who are regular breakfast skipper are more likely to have problems with obesity and even tooth decay.

What Can We As Parents Do To help Kids Start The Day Right?
1- The first step parents can take is to be a good example and eat breakfast themselves.
2- Stick to the basic and serve simple foods that are nutritious and quick and easy to eat in the morning.
3- Tips For breakfast On The Go
* Buy a variety of whole grain cereals that are low in sugar
* make cheese sandwiches , scrambled egg or other finger food that kids can eat quickly
* Cut up different fruits and serve
* Blend up a fruits and yogurt smoothie
* Encourage your kids to drink a glass of milk if they don't eat cereal.
Try to get your kids to eat breakfast sitting down instead of on the go.
